Folklorians Water Bath

Folklorians Water Bath

It was my pleasure to make the 1m wide copper water bath for Kate Partick's 'Folklorians' show garden at the 2026 BBC Gardener's World Live event at the Birmingham NEC.

The bowl was the centrepiece of the garden, measuring 25cm tall, it had a verdigris copper outside with aged copper inside.  The water was blackened with a specialist dye to enhance reflections of the sky and the surrounding planting.

Made to look like they were growing from the bowl, were waxed copper mushrooms and bracket fungi.

Kate, describing the garden, says "For hundreds of years, people across the UK and beyond have looked to plants for meaning, medicine and myth. Their leaves, flowers and roots carry tales of healing, protection, mystery and wonder.

The Folklorians Garden gathers together these stories, some familiar, some long forgotten and gives them space to grow once more. In The Folklorians Garden, plants are more than their leaves, flowers and roots, they are storytellers. Some whisper of red dragons or green knights as they stand proud, softly enveloped in the white of the cliffs that we call home.

The garden offers a sanctuary where forgotten tales are given space to grow once more. As you wander through these borders, listen closely. These ancient stories are waking up, starting as a soft murmur and growing into a vibrant chorus that demands to be heard."

The water feature was sold at the show but please contact me, or Kate Patrick (DM @MessyAllotmenteer on Instagram) with enquiries about this water feature.  More images and video can be seen here: https://copperandgreen.com/products/folklorians-copper-water-bath

Lead times vary but can be up to 3 months for specialist pieces.
